Rolling the fenders

so i think im oging to attempt this myself...anyone got suggestions? i really dont like the "bat idea" plus i dont see how they would roll at the arch they are at. the info that i got that i liked the most was to make a couple of cuts in the inner part and bend them in separatley, in pieces. so what do you guys think?

Why not a bat wrapped in a towel? Seems easiest, as long as you keep the bat at same degree angle, it should be fine. Personaly I would rather pay someone than to cut my fenders.

lol your not going to like this but..... jack the car up....a lil so that you can fit a fist between wuarter lip and tire.... take a wooden bat (wooden because it will not chip the inner quarters. ) slid bat in and push down on bat as hard as you can and roll arounf the tire.... takes a while but it will make it nice and smooth.

see..now lookin at it, i just dont see hwo it would work with the curve that the lips have.

and whats the chances of bending or making a boo boo on the OUTSIDE where its visible?

Whoa....why are you doing this?

I'd just cut every 6 inches or so and THEN use the bat method. I'd done it before on fox bodies without any problems.

I've heard before you roll the fenders you should use a razor trace the fender where you're rolling it, otherwise you might end up cracking the visible paint on the outside of the fender.

Yeah I've done this before on a car, the bat method is pretty good, but it will sometimes crack the paint and it may show. Even if it doesn't, patch it up quick before the rust starts. The razor idea is a good one!

Sometimes it's a required evil...

Kind of like drilling out the end of a crack on a windshield to stop it from spreading, same principal.

You can rent one of those special rollers.... I believe they charge you like $350 to rent and when you send it back they give you back your $300, if you lose it or dont send it back they keep your money

Not sure if there are any local places that would have them for rent though?
