So, asking for some advice here. I WILL get a caprice eventually. Hopefully this weekend. Any ideas what the first mods should be. My list is the following so far, before winter.

-Exhaust. Probably a full exhaust by Right Choice Exhaust, with flowmasters.

-Paint job. Probably just a single stage blast of black. I don't want to do a REAL paintjob yet.

-Tint the windows

Future mods...

-Tranny. Put a T-56 in it.

-Wheels. A nice set of 17" Torque Thrust 2's. Tires I don't know yet. Any suggestions? Nothing super expensive.

-Engine. I am not sure here. I can get a full LT1 shortblock frmo GM for $1500. This is the caprice version, not the f-body version. Or, I could spend some real cash and do an LT4 upper end and rebuild on the shortblock. I am not looking for a stupid silly horsepower car, just something with a little more balls. Hopefully making it into the 13's.

-Interior. This may actually come sooner then later. I am thinking 12-way power bonneville seats, as they will more or less drop right in. I also am toying with the idea of putting 2 buckets in the back for a 2+2 seating arrangement, with custom center consoles. Also, I want to change the interior color. Not sure exactly what color. I am thinking black, as making a blue dash gray is kinda difficult.

-Suspension. probably gonna hack something together. Some f-body parts are upgrades, like the sway bars. Probably drop the car an 1" or so and move the rear axle so it sits in the middle of the wheel well. This means I have to go with a new drive-shaft though. And of course new springs and shocks. Really not sure here.

-Brakes. There is a baer brake upgrade for the car. Its like $1500 for 13" front rotors. Everyone sez not to bother touching the rear 11" drums, cuz the car doesnt really use the back brakes that often. This is am not really sure about. I mean, its a heavy car, so good brakes are a must. I just don't know if it is worthwhile.

Well, I guess that is it for now. Let me know what you all think. Additions or alterations to my list are good. Any suggestions are awesome.

Oh yeah, I am gonna try and see if i can fit E36 BMW headlights in. I have heard they are close to the same size.

I'm all about the "clean" look. Sure it is a little glitsy with the rims, but that is the end of where that goes. Everything else will be interior and drivetrain/engine. I personally don't care for "ricing" up the exterior of a car. I barely ever see the exterior of my car, as I am driving it. Interior means MUCH more to me.

LT4 kit on a fresh shortblock and spray it. That'll have you over 500 horse and should run 13's no problem as long as you can drive

Yeah, the LT4 kit is $2300 from GMPerformance or Summit. A rebuild kit for a 350 is about $350 with forged pistons. Whether or not I build the bottom end myself is another addition to cost. So, more or less, minus labor, its about $3000 for a 400hp engine. Not too shabby. Maybe my winter project.
