There is currently a proposal for a domed oval along with a dragstrip to be build next to the plainfield dog track. They're presenting the proposal Sept 21st. Supposedly there is alot of local support for it

tried to find where it says a drag trip will be there too, but couldn't.

It's only an hour away from me, man that would be awsome.

In a recent article it said "Arganese said he is considering adding a drag-racing strip in hopes of attracting Busch Series or Sportsman Series races."

That is the most I've seen as for a dragstrip. I actually used the contact us feature on the website & inquired about a dragway but got no direct response. I mentioned that a oval track would be competing against three existing facilities in eastern Ct but a dragway would be entirely unique for a 150 mile radius.

I'm planning on being a fly on the wall at the meeting on Sept 21st.

I'm only about 20 miles away.

Yep, the first one to build a drabstrip becomes rich! Let us know what happens at the meeting.

Here is the latest new artical on the proposed track in Plainfield. Anyone who lives in the area should attend the meeting and definately express their desire for this to include a dragway. http://www.norwichbulletin.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040907/NEWS01/409070307/1002

There is a meeting on the requested zone change at the Plainfield Town Hall on Thursday the 23rd at 7:00.

There are some who are questioning the developers motives thinking he may get the zone change, drop the track plan and build something completly different. They need to present the plans and the town need to make any zone change conditional to the track only.

Supporters in the Plainfield area should attend the meeting

I went to the meeting last night. I don't think anything will happen with this and honestly don't think this would be anything like NED. The developer appeared more interested in other aspects of the operation and that is what had alot of the opponents concerned. They fear if the zoning was changed, the developer would just line his pockets and move on.

theyre trying to push it as a NASCAR circle track facility. anyone with half a brain relaizes there is zero interest from nascar in having any type of nextel cup race in eastern CT. they have NHIS in the boston market, and this track wouldnt be any closer to NYC than pocono already is. it makes no sense in nascar's brilliant market-driven expansion scheme....

i dont know what the developer is trying to pull, i cant see any way this thing is ever going to be built.
