theres always a huge gathering at BK by the fair grounds, off the RT 123 exit on 24, but cops break that up a few times a night. not sure where exactly everyone will be meeting, i probably wont be going as well, i don't like getting stabbed by stupid fuckin white kids who drive civics and think they're ghetto because they live one town over from brockton.

Illegal races end with horrific ATV crash
By Terence J. Downing, Enterprise staff writer
TAUNTON — A night of illegal drag racing on the straightaways of Myles Standish Industrial Park Sunday left a Norton man fighting for his life after his all-terrain vehicle crashed into a car, police said.
Jonathan M. Welch, 22, of 76 Barrows St., Norton, was launched 57 feet through the air when his four-wheel "quad" crashed into a Ford Mustang on Constitutional Drive around 8 p.m., police said.
A MedFlight was called to the scene and Welch was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was in the neurological intensive care unit this morning, a spokesperson said.
On Sunday, the MedFlight landed across from the Taunton Holiday Inn.
"His quad hit the driver's side front quarter panel of the car and he was thrown 57 feet from the crash site and landed on the pavement on his face and back," said Sgt. Paul D. Roderick, an accident reconstructionist who was at the scene and is heading the investigation.
"The ambulance workers said he had no pulse when they got there, then he started labored breathing and they called the MedFlight," said Roderick.
"He didn't even belong on the road," said Roderick.
Roderick said Welch was not wearing a helmet and did not have headlights turned on. His ATV was also not registered.
Roderick said Welch was traveling "at a high rate of speed."
Joseph A. Pelton, 17, of 422 School St., Stoughton, the driver of the 2001 Ford Mustang, was not injured.
Roderick said Pelton was not racing.
"From what we understand, he had come to watch the races," said Roderick.
Pelton's passengers were Julie Noonan, 15, of Brockton, and Steve Wilkson, 17, Pelton's cousin.
Roderick said the Mustang had pulled into a parking lot to turn around and was exiting the parking lot.
Pelton had stopped before driving onto the road, where another car had stopped and flashed its headlights as a courtesy signal to allow Pelton to proceed.
When Pelton drove onto the road, the ATV hit his car, Roderick said.
"The driver of the Mustang was pulling out of the parking lot and another car flicked its lights to let him go," said Roderick.
"The driver of the Mustang pulled out to go southbound and along came the quad," said Roderick.
Roderick said Welch was "flying and he was passing the traffic." Roderick said there were no skid marks at the scene.
Pelton's mother and father arrived at the scene.
Roderick said the quad was traveling northbound in the southbound lane.
"The Mustang was crossing over and the quad hit it," said Roderick.
Roderick said Welch was one of more than 500 young people gathered in the park Sunday night to watch or race motorcycles, high-powered cars and quads.
Many of the racers fled when the crash occurred, but close to 100 stayed behind and converged around the crash site where police had to keep them back.
The Sunday night races have become a ritual, Roderick said, with people coming from all over Massachusetts and Rhode Island to race on the park's straightaways.
"Some of my best witnesses tonight were from Kingston. They came all the way from Kingston to race in the park," said Roderick, who was on the scene.
"It's a well known thing and it's very organized," said Roderick. "They go there to drag race and it's been going on for well over a year." He said the racing has become a constant problem and difficult for police to control.
Racers even promote the Sunday races on a Web site, Roderick said.
Ironically, Roderick and Patrolmen Derek Feeney and Erick Moura were assigned to a special detail Sunday night by Police Chief Raymond L. O'Berg to go to the park to break up the races, issue citations and make arrests if necessary.
"We were on our way to the park with state police and Raynham police and we were planning to box them in. Then we got the call," said Roderick.
"I guess we were about 30 minutes too late," said Roderick.
Roderick said the drivers usually take off in different directions when police approach.
"They even have lookouts and police scanners. It's cat and mouse," said Roderick.
"It's been too large and out of control and that's why the chief put on a special traffic detail for it," said Roderick.
"Even while I was in the middle of investigating the crash, we could hear them lighting up their tires on other streets," said Roderick.
"They don't give up. I'm sure they will be back next week," said Roderick.
Roderick said some of the organizers control the betting that goes on with the races, with bets in the $1,000 range and higher.
"There are also side bets among the racers," said Roderick.
Police said 10 motorcyclists were arrested by Taunton, state and Raynham police on charges of failing to disperse.
Roderick said so many motorcyclists gathered near the BJ's Wholesale and Wendy's Restaurant after the crash that it caused a traffic jam on the side of the road.
"I was going back to the station to get some equipment for the investigation and I got stuck in a traffic jam. They were all stopped on the side of the road talking," said Roderick.
Roderick said drag racing is a $500 fine in Massachusetts.
"All the companies in the park have complained about it and we've been doing everything we can go keep them out. We go up there every Sunday night but they keep coming back," said Roderick.
John Hancock Road is one of the main roads used to race on.
