Most of the guys run SLP or MTI lids.

For exhaust you'll definitely want long tubes. Don't even bother with the shorties. SLP, FLP, Hooker all make long tubes for those cars, and they just came out with a Y-pipe especially made for them. For a catback, its really just a matter of sound preference between Flowmaster, Borla, SLP, Corsa.

After that its usually cam, heads, 12 bolt (and new torque converter if you got an automatic) and bam you have an EASY 11 second car.

Check out www.camaroz28.com message boards for alot of info.

do the bolt ons (MAF, chip, catback, smooth "bellows" tube, pulleys, K&N, lid) bolt on some ET streets and whack it with a 150 shot and be mid 11's if you can drive. Or toss in a cam, intake and exhaust and run low 12's.

I thought you could get a predator for those things too? I know we just got the predator for the cobra crowd and its awesome. Tuners can sent you tunes you can just upload to the ECU, you can also tune the car youself with it +-5%

Goods mods to start with are air lid,filter,headers,cat-back exhaust.

heres some advise, go to ls1tech.com. look up east side performance in conn. they are the shit when it comes to ls1's. thats where my buddy took his '99 TA and got it dynoed. also where noyzee(10sec TT Z28, stock motor) gets most of his work done. other then the twin turbo set up, which was done somewhere in michigan so somewhere out there. also, east side, custom grinded there own cam, and on a TA with long tubes, factory cats, cat back, air lid, ported t/b, and rebuilt heads, dynoed something like 460 to the wheels. more the the procharged TA that was there at the time too.

~J yes it is cramped but there is a lot sitting on the top of the engine, that as soon as you remove that you can do just about anything. not like a lt1 where you need to take the front tires off, and the inner fender out to change the spark plugs.

You can get the intake lid from pretty much any company because they are all the same. The exhaust depends on your application and what you like from full catback, to duals, to just a cutout. If its a 99 I would invest in a used LS6 manifold intake. I would get a set of long tubes, theres FLPs, SLPs, Kooks, QTPs, etc etc. many people prefer the hookers(no not that kind of hooker), they are the best bang for the buck for the price your paying. Im assuming its a manual transmission so get a decent 12 bolt with 4.10s becoz your 10 bolt wont hold up. A cam after that would be nice; you can go from mild to wild. Imy friend's running the G5X2 from LG Motorsports, the specs on that cam are 232/240 .590/.609 112 LSA and thats one of the biggest out there if you want something without flycutting your pistons. A set of ported LS6 heads would flow nicely with that. Don't forget your underdrive pulleys while your at your cam. These should put you around the 430rwhp +/- 15rwhp mark with some decent tuning.
