View Full Version : Not a bad night at NED

Finally got to take my car to NED. I ran a 14.1 @ 99.7mph ... not too shabby. I was hoping for 13's but even Kevin was running slower than normal. Maybe it was the weather :eh: Oh well, I am happy... there is alot more things I need to do to the car (Hint : mike you need to burn me a chip), my tranny was making some slippery shifts into 2nd...and the 2.73s didnt help much. Each run I made, I had a little wheelhop which resulted in some tire spin...but it wasn't too bad.
Here's the slip-
R/T... .724
60'.... 2.17
330'... 6.022
1/8.... 9.147
MPH...79.23
1000'..11.835
1/4....14.125
MPH... 99.74
BTW I ran a 14.12, 14.14, 14.13 all in a row. Yea my middle name is "consistent"

I think with some tweaking, some programming, and steeper gears, you'll see 13's easy.

Lessons learned from tonight -
2.73 gears suck nut
Automatics do too

Congrats dude, we need to get cracking on buying a chip burner and a UV eraser and then I will work on getting you tuned in a bit better than you are now.
As it is now, I'd say that with better weather you'll run a 13.9, so with that and tuning, you might even be able to crack into the mid 13's.

Definitely. I think my timing at full advance is only 32* anyways.. I could probably bump that up a little bit. I could tell in 3rd gear it needs some tuning, the motor had a big load on it and it would kinda hesitate a little bit...but overall not bad.
I was trying so hard to crack 13's, but then I realized I had to drive 100 miles home...and stopped :hmm: But still not bad for something with stock heads, intake, tuning, tranny, yadda yadda the list goes on. :eh:

A set of gears, a good converter & some stickies and mid to low 13's should be easy. My car mph's about 97 with the auto and runs anywhere from 13.8 to 13.4 depending on conditions.

Well for the most part, all it has is a nice bottom end, a mild cam, and exhaust. All the other stuff was just part of the restoration. The rest is mostly stock though.
If my tranny shifted like a normal automatic, I would have had 13's all night. But I had to shift the damn thing manually anyways, so I might as well just put a 6 speed in it.
nice times... we would be a good match at the track!!!

You'll see healthy 13's this season without much work at all...it's all just tuning. The little timing bump as well as some fuel curve work will help a lot too...plus I'm sure it wants a different timing curve for part throttle with the 335 cube bottom end in there.

hey nice time man.. I ran that with the 355 and tpi also w/ the 2:73's. I really want to get back to the track this year prolly some saturday if a few people will go. Want to see the upgrades of the stealth ram and 4:30's. Looking for mid to low 13's hopefully.
