Heres the deal. Should i put my car on the juice or build a big block and put it into something ( dont know what yet). I want to do something over the winter like this. I am just not sure what. Let me know what you guys think.

Build a big block and put it into something. Hearing a motor you built with your own hands is probably one of the best feelings I've ever had. Can't beat it.

Find an old Mustang or Camaro rolling chassis and just swap it in one weekend.

Yeah I think i like the idea of a big block a little better too. The one problem i have with the nitrous is my car has a plastic intake.

intake + nitrous backfire = BIG BOOM!

Keep your Stang as a daily driver and build something sick on the side.

i had no problem with mine. only i wish i changed was a RPM activation switch so it would spray passed 3000 rpm.

You were only running a 75 shot in your car. Its the larger sprays that get dangerous.. like over 100.

You have a 351, dont you? Just build that engine and find a 4 cyl mustang shell. Then you can juice the piss out of that. No need for a BB car.

i could have sworn someone makes an aluminum intake for it, not the bullit intake, but a stock replacement..
if not, swapping to a bullit intake would net you some HP/TRQ gains..it's fairly easy... i'v got a parts list around somewhere, as well as a price list for it all... they'v put out some phenominal #'s with the Bullit intake swap + supercharger....

brand new yea.. every once in awhile www.stangparts.com or www.karkraft.com has a used one.. as well as the rest of the parts for the swap..
heres a parts listing and writeup on the swap..
http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/580.shtml
a little more involved than i remember..
but still a good start for a built 4.6 sohc..
which tend to bust out some impresive trq #'s

Unless you have a pile of cash to finish another project car I'd say spray what you have. At least that way you have something fast for next year. Cause realistically, it'll cost a TON more to finish another car than it will to get a $600 nitrous kit. And if you keep the shot to around 100 I think you'll be fine :cool2:

Just a few hundred bucks. The body is solid.Needs just a little tlc.Has a six cylinder suspension in it.Ten holes,3.27 8.8 rearend. It belonged to my freind Ed.I ended up with it in a trade.I've been in the car when Ed was running it and I can testify that the six cylinder suspension works for launching..When he romped on it the thing fucking reached for the moon.Perfect roller for a gutted low budget racer.

I have seen the the 83 and it's a good start , nice and solid, and for a few hundred, you won't find a better deal.

yeah Matt i;d go with building a side car. You dont wanna break your daily driver, it would cause a lot of uneccessary problems. And fi you have the 351 and you can get a roller for a few hundred then i think its a good way to do it, as long as you have space.

You have a new edge mustang, if you're going to spend the money why not pull the motor you have, build it up, and drop a vortech on it? If you're going to spend the money why not work with what you have?

N2o would be cool too, you can run a nice fogger system and be making 400 wheel HP on the juice.

I guess if you're going to build a big motor and drop it in something else sell the mustang, thats my point

I agree here. Remember too the N.O.S Nozzle system, it sprays directly into the injectors, which makes it safer for us plastic intake owners.

And if your going with a Vortech kit, there is none better than T&J performance, they are the only distributors of the Steeda adaptive tune. Check out cobra killer on stangnet.

I disagree. For pure all out drag cars, it is better to build something that isnt road friendly. See, with the stang and an older one, he could actually GO to events, unlike some other people. ;)

I don't understand, so what do you disagree with? If he's going to build a motor he should sell the stang and pick up a beater and something to drop the motor in. If he's not going to sell the stang he should mod the stang and forgo building a huge motor.. hence work with what he's got.

Why only have one sports car? Why not have a nice driver that is pretty quick, and an all out drag car too?

I dont know, MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!

I would rather have one kick ass car and one POS to tool around in. Having two sports cars its a double negative unless you're making some serious money.

Lets see... a used fox-body - cheap
351 built for juice -cheap

Everything else for the foxbody - cheap

Then he can have a mildly fast sports car to drive around in. Honestly him having the newer stang and the older one is no different then driving around a camry and a mustang... Just leave the newer one alone... it will last longer.

Yeah, I plan on having my caprice run high 13's (quick) and having some sort of FAST car too... I wouldnt say the caprice will be a sports car, cuz it isnt. But it sure as hell will be sporty.

Or... sell the stang, buy all that crap with the money you made in addition to a 4x4 beater.

At this age I can't see putting all my money and time into a car.

its all up 2 u about what u do.

if u think about it this way....if u get sick of lets say a 75 or 100 shot, then ur gonna want to go w/ a bigger shot, and u might need to beef up the internals (i dont know a whole lot about Mustangs and how they take the nitrous).

my vote is...if u have the $....to build a BB AND do supercharger AND do nitrous. lol, thats if u want a rocket ship and have tons of $.

cheapest thing 2 do is nitrous, but like they say, dont run nitrous without expecting a rebuild at some point in the future....

so with that said, good luck:thumbsup:

In a weird way I did buy my own car. With a little help from my rents back in 98 with my first real car I've just been making money and trading up I paid for about 70% of my first car. Still needed their help, and without my dads deals this would never have happend, but still, why did you assume I didnt pay for my own car?

Either way my opinion is the same, build what you've got and settle for a pretty fast car, or sell it, get a beater, and a super fast malibu  haha

I want to keep the mustang i have now though as a daily driver.....i dont want to blow the fucker up cause i dont think i could drive that explorer around all the friggin time.......So i am gonna probably consider buying the stang fiveho has and then build up a 351, maybe stroke it if i can find a decent price for that and juice the piss out of it.........

I will be up Saturday with my freind Scott.I'll get his camera and either post you some pics or bring them. The car is solid.I just don't have space for it.I would love to do a junkyard racer with it myself, but it's just not possible for me right now.It has to go.I pulled the motor and trans out of it.The trans is in my car now(killed the t-5 that was in my LX).I'm gonna bulid the shortblock as it is a lower mileage 91 block. So the chassis is just sittin there in M&Ds' driveway(on concrete, not in the weeds). There bitchin at me to move my junk out. So,like I said,it has to go.Thanks

i would put a blower on the 02.......building a cheep race car getts exspensive reel quick.......just having a chasse and a motor is only a small part of what you will need.by the time your done you could of easily put a blower on the black car and still keep it reliable.

Don has a good point here. I was thinking I could build a cheap race car, but things start to multiply exponentially once you hit the driveline costs. Building a big block and putting it into something will also require the thousands of dollars to get it to move, rather than snap things.
