I read this on a motorcycle forum about 05 Gixxer 1k frames failing. From what I have read Suzuki hasnt claimed responsibility or even addressed the issue so that would make me hesitant into buying a new Gixxer in the future...So i notice there was a handfull of people on this forum who went out and got brand new Gixxers... If I were you guys I would take this issue seriously and have it inspected before this happens to you

Apparently Suzuki has a quality Controll issue on there hands because their frames seem to be snapping under normal riding situations... here is a bunch of links that explanes further.

If you go to the links they are saying 05's.... but anyways All i am saying if you have a newer Gixxer close to that model year i would have this issue looked at before it becomes a real problem.

i think suzuki always had a problem with there frames ....i remeber hearing that stunters dont use them cause the frames cant take the abuse and crack ...

oh and my buddys just crashed his 06 600 into a guardrail and his frame was good so i think the small bikes are safe ..hahaha

i believe that 04-05 are a different design and then again in 06-07 they changed them again. i know that the motor placement on the 600's is different more towards the front to prevent the front from comming up too easily.

i dont really knoow about this, i havent heard one thing on any gixxer forum's about this....

its been a known issue with the liter bikes for a couple years. supposedly suzuki redid how they did their welds because of it for the 06+ frames. but there are a couple welds and one weak point in the frame that will slowly crack and separate from prolonged stress. its not an instant snap, so if you check it time to time, you should be safe.

litre bikes....bigger...heavier...from the pics it looks like people need to come down easier from wheelies... :ninja: i would say i was "just riding" too.....

the problem is they snap when they're "just riding", a week later after the initial shock starts to snap the weld. if you check the links and see the detailed pics of how the weld didn't penetrate at all, thats typical of all the failures. the robots weren't dialed in right when it was done or they used a shitty batch of materials.

These bikes are basicly race bikes with lights on them.... they should be able to take the abuse of wheelies and not fail.... The only way a frame should fail is in a hard cart wheeling plastics flying everywhere type of crash.... this is just an example of shitty quality control.... When I am done with my current Suzuki Ill probably never get on one again after hearing about this.... and after hearing what Suzuki is doing about this PR nightmare.... They dont seem like they are doing a thing to correct this problem. its all bad.

cause you can tell that by looking at a bike in pieces thats been crashed after a frame failure? and thats like saying you expect the body on your WRX to start to seperate once you hit 11s

how can you tell they wrecked because the frame fell apart... if your WRX split in two going down the road and hit a tree people would should assume you were street racing and your car is beat right... I mean going by your logic.

:stupid:

what tell tale signs? besides the fact that they're liter bikes and thats what they're bought for.

i had an 03 gixxer 600 and anyone thats knows me will tell you i couldnt even go on a 10 minute ride without standing it up for at least half a mile, endos, standing on the seat, tank wheelies, whatever basically a stunt bike with nice plastics. I crashed the bike multiple times learning circle burnouts and rolling burnouts and just dumped it by linder's going around a corner at 45-50 and the only wrong with the bike when i sold it was the frame slider mount and a dent in the frame. so wheelies should never do that to a bike ever. It just the build quality.

My bike had a parts flying end over end crash and the frame is still prefect. No damage, bending, or cracks anywhere. Guess the moral of the story is "should have got a honda" lol :ninja:

And I do agree thats BS. The damn bike shouldnt break from doing a wheelie. Thats what half the people that own them bought them for in the first place. Granted someone thats good at doing wheelies will never come down hard except in an emergency, it still shouldnt break the frame. Sorry if anyone has one....

I'll wait till you can walk, so you can slap me if I go too far. Glad you're okay though. Now, stop being a hero and trying to kill yourself and everything will be fine.
