I bought this bike a little less than a month ago and still havent gotten a new copy of the title from the registry. My bike is an immaculate 2,800 mile 2001 Gixxer 750 blue and white. I went to Greater Boston Motorsports in Arlington MA a new/used bike shop and as I was about to leave the one sales man was all over my bike asking questions about it mileage and complementing how clean it is... then he quickly pointed out how it still has the original Dunlop tires that the bike originally came with which I guess are currently discontinued. Anyways long story short he was asking if i wanted to sell it and I said sure if he could hook up a good deal on a new bike and give me no less than 6g's for my bike... He said it would be no problem to give me at least that for my bike because of mileage and condition.... So would it be worth it to upgrade to a new Gixxer 750 or 1k or even a honda 1000RR or RC-51. Or should I just continue riding this bike... I love the bike but if i can get good money and deal on a new bike why not right... whats your oppinion... here is some pics of my bike.

New Bikes Are Nice But Ones Like Yours Are Hold Their Value More!! I Think You Should Stick With The Clean Low Mileage Bike And Take Care Of It!!

i would say trade me stright up for a 06-07 gsxr 750 no money exchange if he says no keep your bike and ride it and then go from there ...no matter what you can still sell your bike next year for what you paid for it or close to that ..

Thats not going to happen, a new 750 is sticker at 9,995
I'd keep it, its worth the same now as it would be 5 minutes after you drove the new one off the lot.. plus something that year and in that condition isnt easy to come by..

oh i know it wont happen but if the guy wants it that bad thats the only deal i would take ....i would rather sell mine outright then trade it in and have a dealer make another 1000 bucks off me ...

If you can get the upmost amount for it and a great deal on a new CBR1000 or an RC51 and you don't mind the extra you'll have to put onto the new bike, I say do it!
If I had the same opportunity I'd jump on it as fast as possible (newer bike, new technology, more performance). If you'll get more by selling out right then that's the better route...
Dealers will be dealers though.. he'll probably tell you one thing, then when the paper work comes off the printer and he asks you to sign, perhaps the numbers don't match the numbers previously discussed...?? Gotta hate when they waste your time! Shoot for the stars and see what he'll actually give you...then go from there!
Just my $.02

:stupid: about the dealer thing, You WILL ALWAYS get more selling it outright.. Dealers are in the business of making money if they took losses they wouldnt be in business..

If the dealer wont stick with 6k or more i am walking... I like the bike its paid off and I would like to get out of a new bike with no payments either... So it all depends on what I can get for a trade/price for a new one... I will probably go to GBM tues or wed to see what the verdict is.

my thing is why would you get rid of a nice clean low mile bike , that you just bought, spend more money to upgrade to another bike and all your doing is just riding it ???

I was figuring if i get a newer bike I will have a little more power lighter bike and a newer look and if i can accomplish this with short money then why not.

My thoughts exactly...
Otherwise, as Mystic1199 says just ride it!

Yes it is...
2002 GSXR 750, Full Yoshimura RS-3 Stainless, Power Commander, '03 600 Fairings, LED undertail and then some!
I am a Honda motorcycle guy and bought the bike simply to help my "friend at the time" out with a money situation. It's been good to me, handles well, decent power but I am a fan of more low-end torque... I would like to get back onto a liter bike or possibly back onto an RC51 which makes Gobs of torque down low.... But I face a similar situation as you! I owe nothing on the bike, it suits it's purpose and I could just keep it and ride it -OR- I could sell or trade it now while the value is still better than it will be later and get myself onto a newer, possibly lighter, more powerful bike for a few thousand more.... So I know the internal battle you might be dealing with!
Yet at this point in time.. I am busy building my car and that's where the money focus is going....

newers better i think. u owe nothing. so just upgrade. if the guy sticks to his word. make sure u like the feel of new ones. i think they changed them slightly. i know i like the newer 750's and 1000's cause of my size.
