View Full Version : I need opinions
Ok my truck has started acting up. I neep opinions on what it might be. Ok When I start up my truck it's fine. Then when it reaches normal temp my check engine light comes on then my truck starts shaking like it has a big cam in it when it's at idle. It still drives fine. Only shakes at idle. :eh: o2 sensor maybe?

Vacuum leak? Check the code(s) see if you have a po3XX code. Cylinder misfire or multicylinder misfire code(s).
Yea I'm gonna go to Auto zone and have them pull the code.

does that truck have a mass air ???
or try the brain
Well if it is a brain issue, how much did you say you could get me one for?? :smokin:
Well i'm gonna try to get to auto zone tomorrow and have them pull the code. If it is the o2 sensor I have two. The right side one costs $50 and the left side one costs $42 from auto zone.

I'd guess O2's first, caprice was doing almost the exact same thing.....

Come to think of it matt, I don't think my caprice was out of gas that night... I think the O2's are gone... Cuz, it was doing that "I ain't got shit for power" thing before, after it warms up... Ah well, kinda figured I would end up having to change those.
Went to auto zone today. The problem is my torque converter clutch solenoid circuit open or shorted. Trans temp sensor voltage signal above or below acceptable voltage values. So basically my tranny is fucked!!! :ak1:

No, you just need a new TCC solenoid. Which, involves cracking the tranny open, but not a HUGE deal.

So it can be done without removing the tranny from the truck?

I didn't say that... Not quite sure if it can be done on your truck like that... I know in my Olds, they can do it with the tranny in the car, but is a TOTALLY different setup. Matt would know, and I am sure he will chime in.

Call Dan, you have his number  On a rwd GM it's a cakewalk, it's been a while since I've been inside your tranny and I don't remember where the hell it is in there...
Truck's going to Dan next weekend
He said it's pretty simple. Just gotta drop the valve body and it's right there.

You should be able to do a resistancece check, of the solenoid, out side of the transmission, before the pan is dropped, to make sure that is the problem. I am not a Dodge tech, but I would have to think they work the same as my car line. The wiring and the transmission control module could also be causing a problem. Can't see how a TCC solenoid valve could cause the symptoms you originally described. Keep us posted, I'm curious now on the outcome.
I'll keep you posted. Dan really knows his shit. He'll take care of it.

I've had it happen in my '92 Olds and my '98 Olds... Its a known factory defect, apparently that they didn't feel like fixing or doing a TSR on... Simple fix, just costs a SHITLOAD in my car, cuz the tranny is mounted the wrong way and is a cunt to get to.
