i don't know much about carbs...but seeing a hose coming from the carb and connecting to a valve cover bolt looked kinda funny.

My guess would be 1 of 2. Eather the ower was checkin base timing, or they didn't want vacuum advance?:eh:

disconnected vaccum advance with a plugged line...that what i've been doing to set the timing on my distributer (same exact thing as that one)

Yeah look at the distributor. The thing with all the plug wire coming off of it. Well there is alittle can it looks like that has a tiny port about the same size as the rubber tubes inside diameter. It goes on that. Bet you the car will run better with it in the right place. Thats just a hunch. Merly a guess from my stand point.

haha, so it goes on that silver thing? its my friends car, not mine. and like i said, i don't know much about carbs. i'll tell him to put it on that thing, and we'll see if it runs better.

yes...and you do realize i said i don't know anything about carbs...and i was asking if TPI used vacuum advances. i'm aware that this car does not have tpi. i'm aware that it is carburated (spelled horribly wrong?)

Nop it has electronic ignition. There is not vacuum port goin into the distributer of a TPI motor. Completely Computer controled. They might have a spout connector to pull when you check timing on a 3rd gen TPI motor, that in essance is like pull the vacuum line on the distrubuter in a carb car. The only similarities are pulling both objects out and the timing goes back a few degrees.

just the mechanical for me......i have 26 degrees of mechanical advance all in by 3000
which makes it 42 degrees total timing
