You’re not too good at the English either chief, so I wouldnt worry too much. What’s worse, someone who comes to this country and takes up English as a second language? Or a person who has lived here his whole life and writes at a 2nd grade level? Not to put you down, but gimme a break.

dude brad back off, he wasnt trying to write carefully, and has a a right to criticize. it is a big problem for me too that when i try to order food or buy something, I HAVE to refer to my spanish and talk to them, becuase i speak my second language that i learned over a couple classes in high school better than they speak the official language of the country they live and work in. I fully believe that people should be required to have a conversational english ability in any position where they will EVER have to deal with customers. they dont have to be composing sonnets or anything, just be able to understand what i am saying.

You don't have a right to criticize when you're being a complete hypocrite. Just because someone does not speak English well does not mean they should be deported. Some very narrow thinking is going on here. If we jumped up and deported everyone who didn’t speak English we wouldn’t be enjoying half the stuff we do now, like clean floors and what not. Even then, some of the most brilliant people in our country hardly speak the language. Our economy would be in crisis! Given there are some undesirables, but when aren’t there? I think its borderline comical you guys have a problem with immigrants who are working and trying to make a better life for themselves. If you’re looking for troublemakers the bakery at stop and shop isn’t the place you'll find it. LOL

America really needs a wake up call, I'm sure half you guys support the war too right?

On that note, who wants to open up the slave trade again? I think there is some serious money to be made.

i can agree with u on a few things...i dont think anyone should be deported...u go anywhere in the world and they will all say the same thing...U.S.A. is the best country to live in..... granted when they come over here they are takin advatage of simply on the fact that they cant speak a word of english, but still..if ur gonna come over and try to have a better life for urself or ur family or whatever the case may be that your fleeing from your own country..why not learn the language (its only gonna help them in the long run anyways)..and as far as deportation...thats definately not the answer...1. they'll come back anyway, and 2. it cost US tax payers everytime we have to round them up and deport them anyway...why not let them stay here and work for whatever it is theyre working for....im not a bigot, racist, sexist, i dont descriminate other than if making a joke, and only then its simply for the humor.... i just think there better ways to handle alot of issues other than deportation

* oh and as far as terrorists...i still think they should be round up and raffle tickets should be handed out to US citizens for a drawing to be held on the 4th of july every year where we can draw numbers and then stone them

i still think the only reason we had a war was so bush could be just like daddy...we never found any weapons of mass destruction....only thing that came out of that was was looting, saddaam is on the run(but hes got a thousand places to hide, we'll never find him), and a hostage take over...granted iraq prolli did need changes...but bush only called for a war be like dad and rename iraq BUSHland... different countries , different views on things..and Bush is simply forcing our way of living and our way of government down hundreds of thousands iraqis throats...and at the same time running the US defecit up a few more billion...eh what the fuck does he care...hes out of office in less than a year...he aint gettin re-elected...then again..my opinions dont matter for shit cause i dont vote

Brad, u can blow me. i type to type fast, i cud really care less about using proper english on a fucking online forum. is it really a big deal? if i wanna i can write w/ very good speach and grammar. its obvious i dont give a shit about my spelling on this forum and when i talk 2 ppl online, cuz its faster and ppl still know what im saying, why should i type perfect english on a fucking forum? shit dude.

yeah brad i in no way support deportation as a punishment for lack of language assimilation. i think corporations should hire people who speak english well enough to deal with customers when they will be put in a position to deal with customers. thats it, otherwise, like i said before, they should simply work where they dont need to speak to the general public. and they have the right not to be taken advantage of and not to recieve lower wages and all that bullshit.

as for the war, spare me your bleeding heart bullshit. talk to more soldiers firsthand coming home from iraq and listen to how the people recieve them and tell me we not only should be there, but we should have been there earlier and stay longer.

fuck this US out of everywhere bullshit, we dont need this to turn into a political forum, but as the only superpower its our responsibility to help those who cant help themselves. dont let this liberal propoganda of our "oppression abroad" get to you, theyre a hell of a lot better under our "help" than they were in any other situation. the major problems in the world in the 20th exist when we DIDNT HELP!! read: vietnam cuba korea india/pakistan, and our lack of involvement in the middle east in post cold war era

i never said nething about deporting ppl, and if thats what u got from my post then im sorry u took it the wrong way. i agree with Pat totally on his view and that is what i meant to get across...ppl that dont know the language that might have 2 work w/ others and understand ppl speaking english should b able to understand the other person and whatnot.

about the Bake Shop comment, dont b a douchebag, i used to work at Stop and Shop, sorry i dont have parents 2 buy everything 4 me including a new Cobra...

sorry 2 b an ass, but u just pissed me off...

Because you sound like a focking moron? Just a shot in the dark ace. Sorry, I just find it funny you’re ranting and raving about how much you hate people in this country who don’t speak English well, but you yourself sound like you failed out of special ed. As you said, its just an online forum, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, I’ve been studying 20 hours strait, I'm just looking to bust balls at this point.

think of it this way ..

if you dont even REMOTELY speak a certain language in other countries you get taken advantage of .. and basically laughed at

here .. they give you a job with benefits

the only reason why they are getting mad here oh yee who tries to act like he has an open mind when in fact its narrower than the powerband on his explorer .. is because if people refuse to change to their environment's needs .. they remain ignorant .. a refusal to learn english means poorer job performance .. THUS .. an angry consumer .. however im shit sure that mops at walmart arent as aggrivated at their employees because they're not reciting shakespearean prose

Well the problem with it is they obvisiously would not make enough to support themselves putting them on welfare (your income tax hard at work)(Yea, I DO NOT support welfare). The other problem is they would not have been checked out for medical (lots of funky dieseases floating around). heh of course companies are gonna like this; more profit, less overhead.

Here's my take:

As long someone is making an effort to learn the language of the country in which you reside, I don't have a problem with the fact that a person might be struggling for a while. Hell, if I went to Brazil or something like that, I'd be screwed for quite some time until I put some serious effort into learning Porteugese. However, we don't always see that the person behind that counter struggling with English as a second language might be putting that effort in (because it hasn't paid off... YET). However, there are places that I go frequently that have people whose skills in English haven't improved. Then I have no sympathy and/or patience whatsoever.

There are lots of avenues someone can pursue if they choose to learn English. If they're living here, they should.

As for the spelling and grammar... Unfortunately, this is the internet. You're going to have as many people speaking internet moon language as you're going to have people with proper grammar and spelling. It drives me as crazy as you, Brad - trust me.

I don't buy that using abbreviations all over the place is any faster than typing the word out. I can type pretty damn fast (80+wpm), and when I use stuff like ppl, u, ne1, etc... it's no faster than if I were to type the word out. Either way though, consider this:

On an internet forum, the way you type and what you say is the only way someone is going to form a perception of you. If you choose to use all sorts of abbreviations and moon language, it's going to cast one perception to most people, which may not represent who you think you are in real life. If you type with good spelling and grammar all the time, it's going to cast a different perception.

How you choose to be perceived is up to you. I usually take the latter to eliminate all doubt.

Everyone may now come back from their respective corners.

Well said. Although for every immigrant not making an effort to learn our language and customs there’s some white trash treasure out there ten times worse.

Online ghetto slang is for the birds. For the most part your message gets lost.
