View Full Version : tire plugs?

I just bought a new Polaris Sportsman 500, took it out in the pouring rain on Saturday and put a cut in the sidewall on one of the front tires. I patched it , but not to confident in it. Anyone ever use those mushroom style plugs before and have you had any luck with them? Hate to have to buy a new tire after just shelling out for the quad.

they're great from what everyone else has said. but if its in the sidewall, you're fucked. you gotta get a new tire, the sidewall flex will eventually open it back up

kinda figured that, but my buddy that used to work at a bike shop/ dealer said that he used to do it all the time on quads and bikes and never had a problem. I went to that shop and asked them for a few plugs and they played dumb...probably for safety reasons

yea, it might work if you never beat on it or never have low tire pressure where the sidewall flexes a lot. i personally wouldn't bother, because its going to leave you stranded sometime down the road
