I marked my damper for 36* before TDC by using a strip of paper cut to length.
Equation: (Phi X damper diameter X 36*)/ 360*. For an 8" damper it is 2.513". White paint from a 'Mean Streak' marker is excellent.
Remove one advance spring and disconnect the vacume advange. Fire it up and rev untill advance is all in (Timing marks will stop 'moving'). Adjust dist to line up your 36* mark and you're done.
Check your vacume advance and make sure yours is suitable for a long overlap cam i.e. deploys at a low (8") vacume.
