I'm pulling my motor to upgrade the cam (XE 230-236), and to upgrade my ported iron heads for aluminum heads im porting up.
Im also going to be going back over my rods and lightening/cleaning them up.
What im getting at is I also have been researching and planning on having my crank knife edged and lightened. Ive read it can net up to 20hp at 6500-7k rpm, and can really wake up the acceleration through the rpm range.
I was wondering if any of you have done this, or have experience with it, before i spend the time,( i have access to my neighbors machineshop and lathe, or spend the money for somebody to do it for me..

I might as well do it, since i have a spare LT1 crank and rods to mess with.. :)

opinions/critisism welcome.

I wouldn't bother, odviously its a benefit but @ the street level i'm quite confident there would be no noticable difference, and be shocked if there were a measuable difference on chassis dyno etc
Money would be better spent on a good balance job of the rotating assembly

im still going to have it rebalanced, since Im messing with the rods and pistons, But I think ill still try it out, just to experiment, see how it reacts, since I have the spare parts to mess with

thanks for your opinion :)

thanks for your opinion :) the knife edge really won't do much, maybe a gain of 5hp, the lightening will really help, but be prepared to spend big dollars in balancing as they will probably have to add a ton of mallory metal, which jsut may actually offset the point of lightening it. an aftermarket crank might be a cheaper/ easier way to go.

Yo Devon, yup its me

540: your not kidding, that mallory is expensive sh*t.
