So I'm going to drive down to the RMV tomorrow and take the permit test--what are some of the bike laws? I'm pretty sure it'll be common sense but anything i should know? Damn, I just thought about this---do I have to make an appt. to take the permit test? and do you get the permit right there and then or in the mail? I wanted to take a course up in Beverly this weekend/next week and I need my permit prior to attending. THANKS in advance----CHRIS

nothing to fear, it's all common sense questions.. took my permit test almost a year ago.. i just skimmed the handbook just to be sure.. but certainly wasn't needed..

Yea it did go up to $30 however now it last for 2 years rather than one so its not such a bad deal.

Thanks guys--- took the test and passed!. I'll either take the course in Brockton or Beverly. Any chance you think I'll find a mid 90's bike (at least 600cc) for around $1500?

Its a bad time of year to find a good deal. They are out there but if you came up lets say 2k-2500 it would open a few more doors for ya..You could always pick up a decent late model enduro (on-off roader) for pretty short money, that would get you on a bike and still be fun...Just some suggestions good luck....
