If I were to polish my muffler to tip section of my exhaust, would the heat discolor it?

Just an opinion .. no need to polish it unless you show the hell out of it and have those mirrors underneath your car .. if you like to drive it around .. it'll get dirty as all hell
just do the tips

there shouldnt be enough heat that far back to discolor it

You're right ken, but you you know the section I'm talking about? From behind the car you can see it hanging down.

my tail pipes have always been ice cold, but i've seen people who have melted plastic bumber covers before, i would say its worth a try.

I realized I can't do it till I get my ramps back from Jake. You can't just jack up the rear of my car, the tires are too big.

Jake, keep em as long as you want no worries.

I might buy a second jack, then I can do it. If you unload the rear irs by jacking it up, the tires end up getting sliced by one of those bolts, thats why when you guys took one of the bolts out I asked jake if I take it. I would have grinded it down 1/2 an inch, then it might not hit the tire.

when you jack it up, pull the one bolt and go to home depot on speen street, get a grade 8 bolt with the right thread count, get a nut that will fit it, thread the nut on it till where you want to grind, grind it down with the bench grinder till its flush, then back the nut off. the nut will rethread the threads you just killed and its all good, make sure you put antiseize and a locking washer on it because if you break it, it cant be drilled out.

The problem is you're talking about the wrong size of the bolt. What I think would be my best option would be to use a button head bolt, then I'd have no issue jacking up the rear.

i polished the muffler and tail pipe section of my SLP two out the left. i used naval jelly to remove any light rust around the welds on the muffler, then i used a variable speed buffer with some heavy cut compound, and a healthy coating of mothers aluminum polish. the tails and muffler are stainless steel tho...

I bought some new ramps because it was so nice this weekend, I hit the pipes with just the emory compound and they look pretty awesome. I'd like to drop the whole section of piping and polished up real nice. Pics to come when its finished.
