I wanna rebuild the LT1 I got for my truck. Does anyone know of a good rebuild kit, or is it better to just buy everything I need sperate? Also, I wanna try and get about 400hp from it. What do you guys think I should do to get that?
1 other thing, I need to get a Tranny. I was looking at either a T5 or a T56. But, I heard the T5's have probs with them, and the T56's are mad expencive from what i've seen.
Any help would be apprechiated. Thx in advance!

From my extensive research into LT1 stuff...
400hp at the crank:
GM hot cam with 1.6 rockers
Cold air intake
Headers and full exhaust
tuning
thats it. 400 crank hp. (350hp to the wheels with an auto).
T5 would scatter with an LT1 behind it. You would need an aftermarket T5 in order to be able to handle that power, which at that point, you may as well buy a used T-56. You can get em out of junkyards for around $1300-1500.
Rebuild kits aren't as plentiful as normal small blocks, but summit sells one.

I am going to be honest with you on this one. MANY people do the "upgrades" that I have listed on LT1's with MUCH higher milage with no problems. It's a relatively low milage motor at 93K. So, I would debate rebuilding that motor. But, if you want to rebuild it, I will try and find the rebuild kit. Just have to find my summit catalog somewhere around here. I will get back to you.
I don't see a part # but the forged piston one is $529.95 and the hypereutectic one is $449.95. The forged comp. is 10.4 and hyper is 9.9

I don't doubt that. I just feel better about it if I rebuild it. Thats all.

If @ idle your pressure is still around 20 psi or greater, no rebuild necessary...I have 120,000 on mine and will be putting new cam/heads on this week. Will not rebuild yet my oil pressure is still 20 psi @ idle on a wicked hot day....

Whenever I hit Dyno day and see LT1's with the hotcam kit in it, they were lucky to see 330 at the wheels.....One of my buddies has P&P heads with bigger valves and saw a whopping 340....Overrated kit only good because it has almost everything you need to swap...this was 6 speed and auto's..
330 to the wheels is over 400hp at crank. So how is the kit junk?? They claim 400 at the crank and get it.

What if you put one in front of it? :)
I'd go with a summit forged rebuild kit. I think that is a god price for all that you get, but then again I'm not used to the dirt cheap domestic parts world.
