every 2 min i get the gray pop ups. how do i kill them???:bash:

what windows do you have? Most likely XP since you get the popups.

Its called Messenger service and you can send messages through command prompt. So anyways to disable it, you go to

Control Panel - > Administrator Tools - > Services

Once there, look for "messenger" , double click on it, then find wheres it says "startup type" and there will be 3 options, "Automatic,Manual,Disabled"

Put it on disabled and you are good to go :)

Its funny they sell programs to do just that for 20 bucks, luckily you came here.

You can also go into program files and add "OFF" to the "messenger" folder name

or you can download googles pop up blocker, it works well and is free.

yeah, i got a free pop-up blocker from www.download.com or something, it works good and was free...

Pop-up Blocker is key. Best free program available in my eyes. Been using it for a LONG time now. Its *is* available at www.download.com.... hold on....
