Ok guys I've always wanted a 4 wheeler so I wanna start looking but I know absolutely nothing about them. I dont wanna spend a whole lot of money on one but I don't want a really small machine either. I'm a beginner here.

I'd like to go through the backroads and hit some mud, not too interested in flying down the road passing cars.

What models, options, years should I start looking into?

Anyone got one, project or not, kickin around they are looking to unload?

Thanks
Nick

get soemthin like an older 2wd rancher or foreman or if you want cheap maybe a recon. those are all more utility oriented quads, but dont get me wrong you can ride em hard on trails and have alot of fun.

if you want somethin little more sporty maybe a 300ex, a 400ex is pushin it for a beginer.

noticed i mentioned all honda's,lol...im just a hardcore honda fan, ive had 4 honda dirtbikes, quads and street bikes and given them all a good beating and never had a single problem with one of them

If you've ever ridden a dirt bike, you can handle a 400ex.

:stupid: very true...if you can handle hitting the powerband on a 2 stroke bike in the woods you can handle a quad

I just got an 06 Grizzly a few weeks ago and I love it. Amazed me how much mud and water this thing can go through!

Got some pics here - http://public.wit.edu/~kaliszewskim/Grizzly.htm

I got a 94 Blaster with FMF pipe and a brand new bore that I'd sell $800. Needs a new clutch basket I think. I didn't have time to check into it yet.

another thing to take into consideration is how tall this kid is and how much he weighs.

if you are a scrawny lil kid, a blaster or older 300EX is all you will need for a good beginner bike.

02 Raptor 660 here for sale. $3k takes it, 4 stroke and quick as shit. Some misc. powdercoating, Pro Taper bars, Holeshot tires and a custom grab bar (12 bar). I only put about 1/2 hour a week on it, riding around my shop once in a while. Gimme $3k and it comes with 4x8 "dumping" trailer with sides, and if you pull apart I will powdercoat the frame.
