ridiculous electric water pump installation

i put the electric water pump ive had hanging around for 2 years on last week, but it wouldnt clear my alternator belt, so i had to cut 4 water pump flanges out of some steel plate, then weld them to some tubing, worked ok....only took 10000 tries to figure out how to get them to not leak......then i had to fab up and idler pull setup to hold the alt belt where it belongs.

it works mint, the pump flows 19gpm, and keeps the engine nice and cold, granted its been really chilly out, but the car hasnt reached above 130 degrees yet, even on the dyno....hopefully it will keep the car around 160 in the summer time.

here is the pump with the extensions

It must be nice having the tools to this type of stuff.

Theres so many times I'm working on my car only to sit there and think damn, if only I had this.

But the worst is whe you order parts and they come in and your like wow, I had to pay 200 dollars for 5 bucks worth of materials.....if only pops would buy that welder, the spray booth, the high speed buffer :)

But I guess I'm lucky enough to have a dad that doesn't get pissed when half the garage is covered in intercooler pipes and oil from a leaking cam cover :bash:

ya that helps,

but it takes alot of experience in metal working and fabrication so that you have the confidence to start creating your own parts.....those extensions were difficult to make, especially the flanges, cause i dont have a plasma cutter (YET)

but when you get some skill, and you get bored, you can make stuff like this:

and this is where you make it:
