Saw one in a new issue of Car Craft I think it was. It's a magnet that wraps around your oil filter, and is supposed to pick up all the really small particles that the filter doesn't pick up. It showed a pic of a filter cut open that was used on a 500hp SBC for 1000 miles, and there was a good amount of metal dust on there.

You guys think its a good idea to get one?

I saw something like this, but it was a heatsink that wraps around it. Supposed to cool the oil substantially. Hell, why not have a magnetic heatsink? Why not install CPU fans on it too?

couldn't hurt, but i'd tend to think a decent filter would catch a good portion of that??

same principle of a magnet in the tranny pan or diff cover, will it help longevity? maybe, but ow long have motors been running without oil magnets, If the particles are small enought to pass through a good quality filter, they will most likely not hurt the motor anyways. but ti will give you piece of mind.
