Assuming I had the money, which I don't.. but lets assume I did.. would a 750 be too much for a novice like myself?

depends on how much self control you have. my 600 that i learned on puts out probably 20-30more hp then a 93 750. its just a matter of feeling it out and knowing your limits and skills. id say you'd be fine.

I drive like an old lady.

Now let me ask you this, how much is a MINT condition 93 750 GSXR worth. Something like 12000 miles, no dings or dents at all, never been laid down 100% perfect condition.

i wouldnt buy it... i had a 93 750 and i wasnt impressed with it. its very unconfortable. how many miles are on it? what are they asking for it? i know your only asking if its a good bike for you but this would be nice to know also. i would say go with somthing newer.

i would personally start on a on cbr 600 . very quick bikes that are comfy and handle nice. the gsxr 750 is a torture rack

The only reason I'm thinking about this is because it's my GF's dads bike, I know it's been treated mint over the years and apparently he'll take payments here and there. He wants about 3k for it.

that's cool. but seriuosly, if you really do want a bike. i would consider something a lil newer if your gonna go with a rice rocket. :)

I'd especially agree with this, for the amount he is asking. If it were $1000 or $1500, I'd say "sure, jump on it", because you could turn around and sell it to get your money back, WHEN you decide it isn't something you really want (for whatever reason). $3000 is a lot to spend on something, that either a.) you won't get into or b.) isn't what you want, because you are interested in getting into it.

Go take the course, use their bikes... Or, get your permit, ride someone else's bike (if someone will let you) if you have never ridden before. You should be able to get the permit pretty fucking easy... unless you are hiding some mental deficiency that I don't know of. Anyway, time for bed.

Haha, I'll prob take the class with one of my buddies, we've been plotting this for a while now. Maybe in the fall I'll find some beat to hell harley to restore in my basement or something..

Junk, might as well buy a pedal bike and put the 750 motor in it. Wear a cup though, No suspension at all.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!! if you look around, for 3k you can get a MINT 00-02 cbr600. just look close at the CBR forums and such over the next month and every once in a while someone needs to get rid of one quick.

i don't believe they ran 10s stock, not saying they didn't, but ive been told they were mid 11s stock. and these day, stock 10s and 150mph is nothing. and in its day, sure it was a great track bike, but compared to bikes today, it handles like a jeep on 38" boggers.

Theres no way your going to find a 01 or up F4i in nice shape for 3k, your looking at 4500 or more depending on condition and miles.

or this

I'm way far from even remotly being jealous. Good for him for getting a bike though.

I would, it's the truth. Which is why I'll either buy a peice of crap bike to learn on or take the class. I'd feel bad laying down someone elses hard work. But ask Ken about his plans for the bike, they do involve lights and spray paint, I wasn't going out of my way to zing him on that one. Good for him though.
