So what was your most memorable street race. Lets get some good stories going

i don't race too much on the street... however there was my first marked off, 1/4' street race, in sturbridge..
a guy i knew told me about some of the local hot rods hanging out at dippin donuts in southbridge.. so i followed him there, he had an 88GT Mustang.. built 302, 10:1, forged pistons, Trickflow heads, shorties, B cam, intake, offroad H, flowmasters, 33.73's, etc.. claiming 450/hp to the crank.. he was looking to race someone that night, they had set it up earlier but his competition backed out.. so everyone piped up and stated i should run him.. which we agree'd to after i stating i had never run my car before in a 1/4..
after heading out to the racing spot in sturbridge..
we were sitting there at the starting line, he promptly does a john force burnout on street tires..
i spun mine just enough to clean the tires off, when wheelhop kicked in.. felt like a retard for a few seconds.. getting ready, the hands started to drop.. i have to say i made the best launch i'v ever done, 3500rpm, when the hands reached 1/2 way down, i was off like a shot, shifting around 6800rpm, after passing the 1/4 mark and still no sign of him, i looked back and there he was 2-2 1/2 cars behind me, after slowing down he shot by me on his way back to dippin donuts.. after taking the long way back iwas greeted by the most retarded statement i'v ever heard...
"you don't look like a drag racer"
later that night he clocked in an average of 14.01 on a g-tech with 3 runs..
thats as close as i can come to getting a time for my car, seeing's how i'v never been to the track to race..

old school 4.0 cherokee 4x4 with 300k miles on the clock

The 4x4 race war in the parking lot at percy's.

We did laps through the parking lot and the lot at the paint place at 11pm, after we got out of work at the gas station. after he beat me cause i felt like i was gonna tip 3 times, we both did donuts, until the fire extinguisher went off in the back of his truck. It was great cause we both though he was smoking the tires hard, but apparently we were wrong.

I've only had one that really mattered. I was up in maine with the stealth (when it ran) and was leaving to come back down to MA. I pulled up to a light, and what pulls up on the side of me? A ford coupe with a big block. I looked over at the guy and said "Nice car man". He gave it a quick rev, I gave it a quick ricer rev. All of the sudden, he trans-brakes the bitch... Okay, fine, I can do this. I put the needle at 5Krpm. Light turns green, I BLAZED him off the line by a few car lengths. Then, about 1 second later, he FLIES by me at some insane speed. I lost, but it was cool. I think the guy was impressed by the launch, but his car was WAY fucking faster then my car. Just cool to see old cars like that on the street race. Guy was probably in his 40's. Most excellent race EVER.

my most memorable one was the only race I ever lost in my truck :( we went down to 20 where the new Mobil station is, my truck had a 355 and the Edelbrock performer RPM package on it, 3.08's and 33's. My competition was a 1996 Camaro 1LE car, LT1 auto. We took off pretty good with me getting the jump but he steadily pulled away, he never got more than a car length ahead of me. I had noticed my truck wasn't running up to speed and when we got back me and Matt looked at it. My stupid sparkplug wire was burnt 1/2 through on the header, I was only on 7 cylinders!!!!! Man, I would have taken that thing if it wasn't for that.....:ak1:

this isn't a street race but I thought it was cool enough to mention. I was messing around DT as usual when this punk in a Mustang...cobra??....starts revving at us near the hotel. We all jump in our cars and make some more laps, he ends up in front of me. We're down by the parking garage on main and he lights the tires up for a few feet, so I do the same right behind him. We make the little U-turn and head back up to Main St. Take the right at the lights and he sends it a little sideways around the corner, I pull up, stop at the light and then get into it. I go from that set of lights past the garage and stop sideways behind him at the next light......we didn't see him for the rest of the night :owned:

theres so many.............the S2000 was fun....that mother fucker must of thought i had an automatic i shifted so quick.

but other than tooling on ronny i must say my favorite was beeting this kid AJ in his built 93 notch.theres was a long history of us fucking with each other(he NEVER won).he came to dunkins and i happened to be there(of course)so this kid dave who for some reason thought AJs car had 100 horse over mine was egging us on.keep in mind my car is built for turning not drag.so we go down to "the secret racing location"and aj heats up his DRAG RADIALS and i clean of my STREET TIRES.....that were bald by the way.we line up and matt drops his arms and poof ...AJs got an instant three car leadi start jamming the gearslike i know how to do oh so well and start gaing ...FAST...while this is going on dave has his head out the window with this shit eating grin on his face, well that grin dissapeared quick when i pulled right passed him half way through third.....so far the race was going mint and i was looking to win by about 2/3 cars...except when i went to shift into 4th i pulled a little to hard to the left....and sent the fucker right into second at well over 100mph ...not thinking i was in the wrong gear i comensed to put my right foot to the floor and lift my left one........needless to say the assend of my car was about three feet in the air and the car bounced off the rev limiter the died.....I STILL WON BY 1/2 A CAR...,BUT I RIPPED TWO BOLTS OUT OF MY TORQUE ARM.......BUT I STILL WON

Gotta love half tracking a riced out turbo supra on Lake ave. It's kinda funny to see blank stares from 20 asians when you pop the hood on your muscle car and they have no clue what the hell they are looking at :D To this day I still get kids coming up to me thinking I've had 700 horse for years..... :cool2:

well ill give ya two races.
One: the funniest.
My 96 Z-26 Vs. A mid 90's toyota tercel.
I don tknwo what the fuck this guy was thinking. but needless to say i owned his ass, at half throttle and him taching his POS out and chirping second and somehow third trying to catch me. some people just dont know when to give up.

Two: the most gratifying

96 z-26 vs 2002 Lancer Oz rally

well my friend had been talking shit for months about hwo he was gonan hand me my ass cause his car is a 5 speed and cause hes got a cold air intake blah blah blah. so we go to Import wars in May, and after the elminsations were over, they had grudge matches. well as soonas we heard that we both looked right at each other and said, that it we're gonna find out whos faster right now. so we line up, i looked over and flip him off, he does the same, light goes green and he got a lovely look ay my taillights. so we get back to the pits, i ran 16.47 he ran 17.35. and in true ricer form he comes up with an excuse , so i say fuck that we're going agin, and we're gonna keep racing to you either admit im faster then you or you run out of excuses of why you lost.
So we line up again. thsi time there is no flippin the bird or anything. i was pissed, thsi was a hate race.
light went green. .668 second reaction time. and once agian he was seeing tail lights. got to the booth 16.32 my fastest time. he ran 16.97. then when we got back to the pits this time, he finally admittred i was faster then him. and then immediately said, now dont start talkign shit. that aint cool. what a fuckign babay, he can dish it out but he cant take it. oh well

those are my most memorable racing stories, yeah i knwo they are pretty boring compared to most of your guys, but shit, i only got a beretta.

Sorry, don't have any streetracing stories, really....

Lebanon Valley Dragway.
Back in the day, I "borrow" my parents Chevette. 1.4L (the smaller of the 2 available engines) 4 speed completely stock. Go up with a couple buddies with big Mopars. I pull off the hubcaps and since I have no clue, avoid brackets like the plague. I run.....Z stock! Of course, to get into a class, I get bumped up. I run against a 6 cyl auto Camaro. win, some slant 6 mopar auto, win, end up with a 318 auto humungous sized Mopar. He's about to cook me big time when smoke pours out of his car and I fly by him. Class winner......I have the trophie and kill sticker still. My dad knew nothing till years later and when he found out thought it was the funniest thing he'd ever heard. I think I just barely broke into the 19's. Like a 19.983 or something.

Before I put my turbo on my car i raced my friends del sol and he went into the woods goin 80. His top popped up like 20 feet in the air.

He sat in the car puching his steering wheel saying his father was going to fucking kill him.

So he goes to me and my friend, is it totaled?

and we're like nah nah, just as the tow truck drags it out of the ditch and ripped his exhaust and front wheel off.

and I'm like "I think that'll buff out"

it was pretty funny, but kinda shitty at the same time.

goin down 146 on the straight away before the 1st sand pit on the right, i was the passenger with my father driving in the 97 Sebring LXI (its a dog around town, but at speed its not too bad) and this guy in a late 90's Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with the 360 badge on the side comes flyin up on us, my father took it to 120 and he hung with us, but we started pullin at about 125 or so, but the fuckin chip kicked in at 128, arggg...still started walkin on him tho

redlight nightmare in the nova...summer nats 2002...we're leavin on saturday afternoon to go home for a few after bein on the hill all day and we're at the light by the YMCA in back of the parking garage...its me in the back, my father shotgun, and his friend driving...a lightning pulls up and rev's him, when it turns green he mats it and leave the lightning in the dust with the sound of squeeling tires and open exhaust (4.56's and the drag suspension just hooked and took off...it used to be a 10 sec drag car with a mean ass SBC)

Hahaha. That's quality. I don't really have any street racing stories either. But maybe someone here was in the stands at NED the night I brought my 1988 Caravan up to the strip? I did a couple of pretty big burnouts, and the crowd seemed to like it.

I made three runs. The last run I holeshotted the T-bird pretty bad - something like a .5xx to a 1.xxx. We were just about equal at the 1/8th.

Oh, I remember another one. I used to be into custom vans, big time. Well, sold one and used my dad's Silverado 4x4 pickup for a couple months before buying a new one. Went to a van-in that was at a dragstrip. I really don't remember where it was. I line up for a run with the totally stock 350 against a Ford van with a 460 who's been talking it up all day how fast his big block was. The rest of the club that I was there with were up in the stands. The lights go green and with the truck in 4 wheel drive I smoke him on the start. He ends up missing a shift or something stupid and I beat him by mucho truck lengths. Coming back on the return road, my buddies in the stands are chanting at the other guy......."him....him.....fuck him".
